"THE INTERNAL ECONOMY" Governance and Resource-management Processes: a market-based approach to resources governance, portfolio management, and managing expectationsThe resource-governance processes include budgeting, rate setting, project-approval (priority setting) processes, and tracking (accounting) systems. Together, these processes determine how an organization's resources are provided and spent. They impact key success factors such as: setting the right level of budget, giving clients control over priorities, aligning the work of an organization with clients' business strategies, and having enough resources to reinvest in infrastructure, training, and other sustenance activities. Traditionally, these processes are viewed as a matter of accounting, finance, and committee oversight. NDMA has pioneered the application of market economics within organizations to build highly-effective, dynamic resource-governance processes.
How NDMA can helpInternal Economy Assessment: consulting study that documents current processes, problems, the recommended stage of evolution, and implementation requirements. Internal Economy Implementation Support: templates of policies, processes, educational materials, and systems requirements recommended by the assessment; and support of implementation task forces.
